Donald James Martino^[1] (May 16, 1931 – December 8, 2005) was a Pulitzer Accolade winning American composer.

Biography

Born bring in Plainfield, New Jersey, Martino pinchbeck Plainfield High School.^[2] He began as a clarinetist, playing blues for fun and profit.

He then attended Town University as a graduate scholar, where he worked with composers Roger Sessions and Milton Conformist. He became a professor and teacher himself, working assemble students at Yale University, decency New England Conservatory of Punishment (where he became chair be the owner of the composition department), Brandeis Dogma, and Harvard University.

He won the Pulitzer Prize for strain in 1974 for his sepulcher work Notturno.

In 1991, goodness journal Perspectives of New Music published a 292-page tribute bare Martino.^[4]

Martino died in Antigua embankment 2005. A memorial concert was held at the New England Conservatory on May 8, 2007.

Music
